At the National Skin Institute, we have full time nurses to administer the most advanced technologies, which means you always receive the highest standard of care and best results

Hot Waxing

With unique hot wax made on site, this is a great moisturising wax for sensitive areas such as the bikini area and gentle enough to use on the face, while being tough enough to remove strong body hair.

IPL Laser Hair Removal
Thanks to advanced new technology, Intense Pulsed-Light (IPL) works several times faster than other light-based hair removal systems. IPL is effective on dark hair and most skin types. For best results, multiple treatments are required - approximately once a month.
IPL Laser works by emitting pulses of intense light into the hair follicles. The light is absorbed by the pigment in the follicles and converted into heat. This heat then loosens the hair and disables the cells which are responsible for growing new hair.
Most hair destroyed by the IPL will not grow back, while other hair may grow back finer and lighter in colour.
Treatment sessions are quick and easy and you will feel a gentle 'snapping' sensation as you perceive the light.

Electrolysis - Permanent Hair Removal
Electrolysis is a progressively permanent treatment to rid the body of unwanted hair. It has been around for over one hundred years and is still the safest, effective and most reliable method around.
How Electrolysis works
A fine metal probe is gently slid into the base of the follicle, to where the cells responsible for growing the hair are situated. Intensity is applied to the base of the follicle (thermolysis) which destroys the cells that grow the hair. During the treatment you may experience a heat sensation which is associated with the intensity being applied. It is called progressively permanent, as it is difficult although not impossible to destroy all the cells after one insertion. If all cells are not destroyed the hair will grow back finer, softer and lighter, until eventually all cells are destroyed and the follicle is unable to produce another hair.
Duration of Electrolysis treatment
Every body is different, so it is difficult to say the exact duration of treatment. It is dependent on the size of the hair, how often you are willing to come in for treatments and possibly other factors such as hormones and medication you may currently be using. Generally though it only takes a few treatments of the hair follicle to render it incapable of hair production. |
